Superhero Double Consciousness

Many superheroes live  in forms of double consciousness every day. The fact that they have two different lives automatically guarantees a split personality, a super hero cannot behave the same way when in costume and when not. The expectations of society change when they change who they are. When Peter Parker goes to work his boss does not expect him to save any lives or defend anyone's honor, Spider-Man must  always look at himself the way the city of New York would see him and try to please the people around him. This is a common factor in the lives of most superheroes. Some super heroes may have the natural split personality such as The Hulk, Bruce Banner often does not remember what he does as the hulk, and could not control himself if he wanted to. Double Mindedness in a superhero's life is one of the issues commonly portrayed in the movies and comics, it is a difficult task to put a costume on everyday and still maintain who you really are as a person. This may not be as hard for Tony Stark, but many superheroes do not know who they really are after trying to balance both of their two different lives. The X-men have to deal with this issue worse then others, "mutants"  are considered outcasts. In the X-men comics and movies society casts them out and does not appreciate what they do, when other heroes are considered celebrities. The X-men have to be very careful in what they do, always trying to please the outside world and make a good name for themselves. They must examine themselves through the eyes of others even more than any other superheroes, while maintaining who they really are as a person. Double consciousness can be viewed as a real identity crisis when pertaining to the lives of superheroes
